3 Alternative Ways to Use a Tennis Court

Who says that tennis courts should be only used for tennis?

Whether you have a tennis court already or are considering building one, you may be looking for ways to get more out of the court than just tennis. Fortunately for you, you’ve come to the right place!

At C&C Courts, we are professionals at building multi-sport athletic courts, which allow you to play many games on a single court surface. Let’s check out some fun ways to utilize a tennis court for other group games.

1. Pickleball

Pickleball is probably the easiest game to play on a tennis court. Plus, it’s a very popular game that has taken the world by storm over the past few years!

Never heard of pickleball? It’s an easy-to-learn game that uses a whiffle ball and paddles that are similar to oversized ping-pong paddles. It combines elements of tennis and ping-pong and is usually played with partners.

The game is already played on a flat surface with a net, so transitioning from a tennis court to a pickleball court is very easy. You simply need to draw the lines of a pickleball court on your court surface, which is smaller than regulation tennis court dimensions. While a tennis net is taller than a pickleball net, it will not interfere too much with playing.

So grab your paddles and pickleball balls and have a great time playing this popular sport!

2. Dodgeball

Remember playing dodgeball in elementary and middle school? You can easily use your tennis court to play a rousing game of dodgeball. You just need some rubber balls and a group of friends. The net can be the dividing line between the two teams.

The goal of dodgeball is to eliminate all the players on the other team by hitting them with the ball. If you throw a ball and another player catches it, you are out, and the opposing team gets to bring back one of their players. The game continues until one team is eliminated.

3. Four Square

For another blast from the past, you can play four square on a tennis court. You can either play with a rubber ball or basketball. You need four players, with each player standing in a different quadrant. Be sure to remove the net for this game!

To play, the person in square 4 serves the ball into another square. The ball must bounce, then the player in the new square must hit the ball into another square with their hands, and so on, until someone gets out. The last player standing is the winner.
