Springless vs. Spring Trampolines
As the warm weather starts to arrive again, you may consider pulling out that old trampoline. Trampolines, when used properly, are a great form of exercise for adults and children, and there are many games you can play to pass the time outside.
But what if there was a different option than your old spring trampoline? One that was significantly safer?
Springless trampolines are a newer way to bounce, eliminating many of the dangers associated with spring trampolines. At C&C Courts, we love springless trampolines, and we’ve put together this guide on choosing the right trampoline for your family.
What is a Spring Trampoline?
Spring trampolines have long been the more popular type of trampoline, specifically because, well… There wasn’t much competition to choose from when it came to picking out trampolines!
The main design feature of a spring trampoline is the metal springs that connect the jumping mat to the frame, which helps provide the bounce. They are still a popular trampoline choice today; odds are you can drive around the neighborhood and spot a few spring trampolines here and there.
What is a Springless Trampoline?
Springless trampolines are a newer type of trampoline that doesn’t rely on heavy metal springs to provide bounce. They were created in the early 2000s by Dr. Keith Alexander, who wanted to make a safer version of a trampoline.
These use composite rods, bungee chords, or elastic straps as spring replacements. They are increasing in popularity as many parents remember the dangers of the spring trampoline they spent many summers playing on back in the day.
Main Differences Between Spring and Springless Trampolines
Let’s take a look at the other differences between spring and springless trampolines, specifically your average spring trampoline versus our preferred brand of springless trampoline: Springfree® Trampoline:
Design
As we mentioned, springless trampolines do not use heavy springs to create bounce. They both have round frames that support the jumping mat. Both types of trampolines typically come with safety nets to help prevent people from falling off due to an errant bounce.
Safety
The main idea behind springless trampolines is safety. Spring trampolines can be more dangerous because of the springs, which can cut through the skin or pinch the skin.
Springfree® Trampolines are much safer because the springs do not exist. They have hidden frames, which means less metal for someone to land on and a safety net to catch anyone who might fall off.
Bounce
Tipping the scales in favor of the spring trampoline is bounce. Spring trampolines tend to have more bounce to them than some springless trampolines. But it can depend on the brand of springless trampoline. Springfree® Trampolines provide a softer, more consistent bounce than spring trampolines, cushioning the impact every time your feet touch the surface.
Durability & Maintenance
Spring trampolines are more susceptible to rust and deterioration. The rods on springless trampolines will not rust and will last longer than spring trampolines. Springfree® Trampolines are built with stronger materials and require less maintenance than spring trampolines.
Price
Springless trampolines are more expensive than spring trampolines, but the cost difference is due to the included safety features. Plus, the quality and price of a spring or springless trampoline will increase together, so a higher-end trampoline of either type will cost more.
Protect Your Family with a Springless Trampoline
If you were an '80s or '90s kid, you probably remember the injuries sustained on a spring trampoline. The much safer alternative for your family is a springless trampoline.
C&C Courts is proud to offer Springfree® Trampolines that provide the same fun as a spring trampoline but with significantly less potential for injury.
