Volleyball Court Size & Dimensions: What You Need to Know

The dimensions of a volleyball court are standardized by the governing body of volleyball, the Fédération Internationale de Volleyball (FIVB), and by regional organizations.
There are certain dimensions and spaces you need, so let’s take a look at the most common dimensions for indoor volleyball courts (Note: Beach volleyball courts have different dimensions).
Court Dimensions
First, you need enough space for a full court. The primary dimensions are:
Free Zones
All volleyball courts need a free zone around the court. These are free playing spaces, which should be a minimum of 3 meters / 9.8 feet on all sides.
Net Height
The net is positioned vertically above the centerline. There are differences in height between men's and women’s volleyball.
Antenna Placement
The antenna must be placed on each side of the net, and they extend 80 cm / 2 feet 7 ½ inches above the net.
Center Line and Attack Line
The centerline, over which the net is positioned, divides the court in half. The attack line is drawn parallel to the net about 3 meters / 9 10 ⅛ inches from the net.
Service Line
The service line is located at the back of the court, parallel to the net, and is 9 meters / 29.5 feet from the net.
